Every masjid,
within everyone’s reach.
Qutb is built so a person can read their masjid’s prayer times, give, and follow their child’s classes, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This statement says how close the platform is to that today.
WCAG 2.2 AA · partially conformant
Last updated
The standard we target
Qutb targets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, on the platform’s own pages and on every masjid’s site, cockpit, screen and kiosk.
Where it stands
Partially conformant
Parts of the platform do not yet meet the standard. The gaps that have been measured are listed below, each with the date it was measured.
How it is checked
- The rendered markup of the platform’s pages is audited by axe-core against the WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 A and AA rules, as part of the platform’s tests.
- Text contrast is measured in light and in dark: the platform’s own palette against 4.5:1, and each masjid’s tradition colour on served pages in a real browser.
- Not yet: automatic checks of every WCAG 2.2 addition — target size is now checked, focus not obscured is not — axe in a real browser on every surface (today: the platform’s own pages only), a check of the member app on a device, and an independent audit.
- The full result, success criterion by success criterion and surface by surface, is
canon/security/ACCESSIBILITY_CONFORMANCE_REPORT.md.
Known gaps
The next-salah strip on a masjid’s front page
Its text fell under the 4.5:1 floor on seven of eight tradition and mode pairs, worst 2.23:1 (15 September 2026).
Under repair — the colour was corrected on 19 September 2026 and has not yet been re-measured on a served page.
Arabic section headings in the Mihrab cockpit
2.05:1 at 14px, on every cockpit page (15 September 2026).
Open
Status pills and column headings in the Maktab portals
4.11:1 at 9px and 3.86:1 at 10px (15 September 2026).
Open
The kiosk’s giving panel at 800 × 480
The panel overflows the kiosk’s viewport, and one label renders at 7.68px (15 September 2026).
Open — waiting on the smallest type size a kiosk may use, open question #101
Measured in headless Chromium against the running platform, and recorded in the platform’s own surface-status register.
Report a barrier
If something on Qutb or on a masjid’s site stops you, write to salam@qutb.one. Tell us the address of the page, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser or assistive technology you use.
If the barrier is on a masjid’s own site, you can tell the masjid too. The fix is often the platform’s, so we would rather hear it as well.
